The Gardner Community Garden is right now finishing up with the 2013 growing season. I visited the garden on Saturday, and was thrilled when I was given a goody bag to take home after shooting my video. That night I enjoyed eating fresh corn of the cob, vine ripened sliced tomatoes and some of the best tasting watermelon I’ve had this year! Yum!
In this video, garden manager Tom King explains what it’s all about. It is sponsored by the local Knights of Columbus Council. Gardner Community Garden is in honor of Dale and Marcelle Baker, longtime farmers from the community. The land for the garden is located just south of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 W. Main St. If you would like to get involved with the Gardner Community Garden, visit their website at http://gardnercommunitygarden.com for more information. They’re also on Facebook.
